About this mirror

This is a small static snapshot mirror, maintained by an unaffiliated graduate-student volunteer, of selected public-domain data files relating to terrestrial carbon stocks, atmospheric trace-gas surface measurements, and dendrochronology.

Why mirror these particular datasets?

NOAA GML’s FTP service and the NCEI paleoclimate database both serve as primary upstream sources for the broader carbon-cycle community. They are reliable, but transcontinental latency and occasional maintenance windows make small classroom mirrors useful as resilience copies.

Refresh policy

One-shot pulls only. No cron, no rsync. When a snapshot ages out (typically every 6–12 months) a fresh manual pull replaces the prior tree. Inter-snapshot file Last-Modified headers are preserved from upstream where supported by wget -N.

What this mirror is not

It is not an authoritative source. Cite upstream in publications.
It does not host raster MODIS tiles, full ERA5/Copernicus archives, or anything large.
It does not perform any analysis or aggregation of its own.
